Why do I have to give Lusha MORE information?!

This is a common concern that Lusha receives from individuals who wish to submit an “Access Request” (to find out what categories of data Lusha has collected and available information as to their source) or a “Removal Request” (to exercise their right to be forgotten).

We understand that individuals are weary of giving out their personal information. However, in order to identify you and make sure that Lusha is providing the personal information to the right individual, we need to verify the identity of the person requesting such information. We ask that you provide us with only the information necessary in order to validate who you are.

In addition to requiring this information for identification purposes, the personal information provided on our Removal Form is added to Lusha’s suppression list. Lusha’s suppression list is a repository of personal information from individuals that have requested to opt-out. All other data that was associated with the email and/or phone number provided will be removed from Lusha’s contact database and will not be sold again. Placing personal information onto Lusha’s suppression list ensures that the personal information provided will never reappear onto Lusha’s database ever again. Once your personal information is on our suppression list, our algorithm can avoid adding it to our database in the future. Please note that it may take up to 7 days to remove your data from all contacts databases of Lusha.

To illustrate an example: if Diana would like to have her personal information removed from Lusha, and Lusha only has Diana’s email address in its database, then Lusha will place Diana’s email address on our suppression list to never be picked up by Lusha’s algorithm again. HOWEVER, if Lusha’s algorithm were to pick up Diana’s phone number in the future, Lusha would have no way of knowing that the phone number belonged to the same Diana who wanted her email removed. Diana’s phone number would be added to Lusha’s database, and Diana will begin receiving cold calls. IF Diana had provided Lusha with both her email address and her phone number or Linkedin URL, then Lusha would have added both pieces of personal information to its suppression list. Diana’s phone number would not have been picked up by Lusha’s algorithm at all.
