Welcome to the JungleVine Foundation's Linkedin page. We work with indigenous Khmu artisans in remote villages in northern Laos. Most Khmu live at a subsistence level, isolated and far too distant to commute to jobs outside their villages. They grow their own food and construct their homes using bamboo and materials they harvest from the forests. As they have for thousands of years, the Khmu use fiber from a vine to make tote bags. The bags, which we call Nature Bags, are based on a design the Khmu have passed down for generations. Nature Bags and the amazing fiber, JungleVine® (Pueraria phaseoloides) give them an opportunity to earn income while working at home. JungleVine® grows wild, without any cultivation or agricultural inputs. The Khmu work in harmony with nature when harvesting the vine stems, always leaving enough of the vine behind so that it can rapidly regrow. Processing the stems by hand, artisans extract the bast fiber that they hand spin and then use to make bags and other handicrafts. JungleVine® fiber and products are sustainable, renewable, and carbon negative. JungleVine® Nature Bags are the most genuinely eco-friendly bags on the planet, far surpassing plastic, paper, cotton, and even hemp. They are lightweight yet durable, and ideal for grocery shopping, farmer’s markets, beach, pool, or gym. They can be worn as a chic crossbody hobo bag, messenger bag, or weekender. Travelers use them as a carry-on bag. If you are retail shop owner who would like to carry Nature Bags and JungleVine® products in your store, please contact us. We are eager to work with small boutiques and make it easy for you to get started. JungleVine® Fiber is Better than Hemp™ Nature Bags are Earth's Greenest Bags™
