ArtWorks! Gwinnett (TM) is a non-profit, tax-exempt public charity that serves as the multidisciplinary arts alliance in Gwinnett County, GA. (2nd largest & most diverse GA county; pop. 815,000) - home to 150+ arts & culture groups & 150 arts-related businesses. MISSION: ArtWorks Gwinnett improves the economy and quality of life in Gwinnett County by promoting and strengthening the arts, and connecting artists and arts organizations with the broader community, and with each other. HISTORY HIGHLIGHTS 2007-9: Originally "Strength in Arts," this organization grew out of a committee of Gwinnett arts, education, civic & business leaders who saw the importance of the arts to economic vitality, tourism, community vibrancy, quality of life & education. Research, planning & cultivating support led to the unified arts effort. The group was an outgrowth of a Quality of Life strategic planning committee of Partnership Gwinnett - Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Initiative. 2009-10: Renamed "ArtWorks! Gwinnett"; logo, website & brochure introduced; bylaws created; became a tax-exempt non-profit. 2011: Headquarter established; 1st Executive Director Sally Corbett hired; 1st Community Forum & professional development workshops presented; & membership launched. 2012: 1st Fusion: ArtWorks! Gwinnett Awards & 1st student awards launched; ArtWorks! is honored with a Hudgens Center "Gwinnie Award" and Live Arts Theater "Lively Award". Raye Varney becomes Interim E.D. as Corbett departs for NY position. 2013: 2nd Fusion Awards and Student Art Awards held. Varney named E.D. ArtWorks launches Doors to Homes and Hope, in conjunction with Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity. 2014: 3rd Fusion Awards and Student Art Awards held. Second Doors to Homes and Hope held. TV Gwinnett spot for Doors project given NACIO Award for Excellence in Video Programming. 2015: ArtWorks begins TV program ArtsTalk, in collaboration with TV Gwinnett.
