Young At Heart Pet Rescue
www.adoptaseniorpet.comLove Has No Age Limit™ especially when it comes to dogs and cats that need a second chance. Young At Heart Pet Rescue is a volunteer-based nonprofit that rescues, vets, fosters, and rehomes dogs and cats ages 7 and up. All Young At Heart pets come from Illinois animal shelters or municipal animal controls with a high rate of euthanasia among older pets. Young At Heart Pet Rescue's mission is threefold: • To find a home for every adoptable dog and cat that comes through its doors • To educate the public on the benefits of adopting an older pet • To reduce the euthanasia rate among older pets in Illinois Young At Heart takes in companion animals "too old" for traditional shelters, providing them with a real chance at a forever home either with a loving family or through the rescue's Sanctuary Program. Young At Heart pets found to have a terminal or chronic medical condition that makes them virtually unadoptable become Sanctuary pets, with a long-term foster family to provide love, stability, and commitment to care while the rescue covers expenses for veterinarian-recommended therapeutic and palliative treatment as long as the pet maintains quality of life. Additional Young At Heart initiatives include Nina's Pet Food Pantry, which helps owners in need feed the pets they love during an economic crisis, and the Heart-to-Heart program, which waives fees for senior-to-senior adoptions. A 501(c)3 no-kill organization, Young At Heart receives no federal or state funding and relies solely on private donations, fundraisers, and grants to support its work.
