Agile, disruptive and activism-led delivery of climate literacies for an architectural and built environment education fit for a Climate and Ecological Emergency. Over its 2-year history, the AAS’ has punched disproportionately high above its own weight: with impacts that are felt internationally - occasionally directly leading to the formation of other educational climate action groups. The AAS has built an internationally-recognised reputation by: contributing to dozens of online and physical events and the catalysation of dozens of its own - accumulatively directly engaging over four thousand people; guest-lecturing at over a dozen schools of architecture - occasionally for educational staff; participation in conferences, expos and festivals; and featuring in architectural publications that cater to a wide audience - such as Archinect, the Architects Journal, Crumble, Dezeen, -Ism, and the RIBA Journal. In recognition of the project’s impacts, its founder placed in the RIBAJ Rising Stars cohort of 2020. Beyond the traditionally architectural the AAS specialises in the cultivation of Climate Literacy, the creation of non-hierarchical educational space and the facilitation of workshops around agency, the climate emergency and utilising participatory democracy techniques.
