Tapco Crane & Rigging was established in 1991 and began as an industrial maintenance and rigging company servicing textile manufacturing companies in the Carolinas and Virginia. Tapco quickly began expanding into other states as a result of many satisfied customers with national and international ties. In 1994, as a result of the growth experienced by Tapco, it moved from its original location in Hillsborough, NC to its current address, 314 Muldee Street, Durham, NC. In the mid 1990’s the company added cranes to its extensive equipment list and began a successful crane division that can furnish any size crane for any project. All of the crane operators are CCO certified. All Tapco employees are also trained in MSHA Parts 46 and 48, and are 10 hour OSHA certified, foremen are 30 hour OSHA certified. Tapco is proud of its past and present safety records and has been awarded the North Carolina Star for exemplary safe practices. All company employees hired before 2-10-10 have completed certified riggers and signal person courses. Tapco was also selected to be a host site for Durham Technical Community College certified welding classes AWS and ASME. Tapco is a HUB certified business and a licensed general contractor with membership in the following associations: Specialized Crane and Rigging Association, National Association of Demolition Contactors and Associated General contractors.
