EcoVivarium
www.ecovivarium.orgEcoVivarium is a 501c3 nonprofit Living Museum and Rescue exclusively featuring reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods. We started in 2008 as a mobile education outreach program serving schools, community, special events, and birthday and corporate parties. Our Animal Ambassadors are 98% rescues and 2% donated. Ambassadors range from common geckos and ball pythons to critically endangered species like our Giant Galapagos Tortoise. Upon arrival at EcoVivarium, each animal receives a veterinary check-up and receives any needed treatment. Once medical is complete, they begin necessary rehabilitation for physical and behavioral issues. Animal Ambassadors are constantly training and learning. Every Ambassador receives a minimum of one hundred hours of specialized training before meeting with the general public in the museum. Many of our monitors and giant species have more than a thousand hours of training to ensure public safety during interactions. Additionally, every staff member at EcoVivarium is trained to read the body language of the individual animals interacting with the public. The animals always have the final say on interactions. We never force an animal to perform or interact with the public out of respect for the animal and in keeping public safety a top priority. Visitors to the museum receive a guided tour of the facility. They will meet and interact with a number of our Ambassador Animals as they learn about their individual stories, threats to survival in the wild, and connections to human religion, cultures, and history. Depending on the tour selected, guests are invited to pet or hold several animals during the interactive experience. Visitors are never allowed to roam the museum outside of the guided tour. EcoVivarium receives no government funding. We need and greatly appreciate your support.
