With more than 100 affiliated faculty from numerous disciplines, we are connecting, collaborating and coordinating efforts to solve the world’s energy problems. Home to the nation’s first solar energy lab and the only Department of Energy funded bioenergy research center on an academic campus, UW-Madison supports the efforts of hundreds of faculty, scientists and students working in energy. Guided by a commitment to American energy independence, our teams of scientists, engineers and scholars work across traditional research boundaries to make game-changing energy discoveries. From biofuels to batteries, we are driven by UW-Madison’s legacy of solving large-scale societal challenges. Our Mission The Wisconsin Energy Institute provides an objective forum to exchange ideas on energy issues, and to focus, integrate and transfer knowledge to better understand challenges and identify needs in energy sources, technology, use and impacts. Specifically, we: -Foster the creation of collaborative energy projects and research opportunities -Prepare energy leaders of today and tomorrow -Enhance public understanding of pressing energy issues The Wisconsin Energy Institute has positioned itself as the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s centerpiece of energy research by preparing future energy leaders, fostering collaborative research efforts and enhancing public understanding of energy issues.
