In 1958 Coughlan Homes founder, Jerry Coughlan, launched a real estate development company in east Toronto. In the following years, he expanded his development into the Durham Region. Jerry enjoyed many sports, particularly golf, and in 1968 opened the 18-hole Glen Cedars Golf club in North Pickering. He continued his vision of growing businesses in the area and in 1989 proceeded to build Deer Creek Golf Course, with two more 18-hole courses. In 1997 he expanded the golf clubs to include Salem Ridge Golf Academy, and by 2003 added a clubhouse expansion including a 50,000 square foot event venue and 9 more holes bringing the total to 45 at Deer Creek. In 2021, we opened our newly renovated restaurant Jerry’ Taphouse, named in his honour. Today, Deer Creek Golf & Banquet Facility encompasses the ultimate golf and special events experience.
