IPDB fosters research and exchange in the areas of blockchain technology & governance as well as consortial collaboration across industries, the public sector and other important aspects concerning the technological and collaborative part of our future, through non-for profit activities. We support the documentation of open source code in order to enable blockchain-based backend capabilities such as registries for machine, object or code IDs, metadata notarization with web3 database capabilities - and all of that with real decentralization and regulatory compliance in mind. IPDB‘s focus on strong governance is powered by our oversight of the Planetmint (formerly BigchainDB) codebase and the contributions of our member organizations, as well as our work with universities, public service bodies, lobbying groups and the corporate world
