The idea for KnoWhere hit me one night in Rio de Janeiro over a few Caipirinhas. I was with a friend of a friend – who I’d never met before – and the day I had experienced was like something out of a movie. We visited a hidden beach, ate at locals-only spots (where he ordered for me in Portugese), and stopped to take in jaw-dropping views from tourist-free lookouts. This one, small connection through a mutual friend opened up Rio in a way that wouldn’t be possible to experience on my own. By channeling a trusted local’s knowledge, I felt safe and had a richer, more immersive experience. My life changed with a few easy words: Take Me Where You Go. After all, travel is about the people you meet.
