ASM is a hybrid-model government composed of both a highly active grassroots, volunteer-driven element that advocates for student issues and concerns and a parliamentary structure which facilitates the administrative side of the organization. ASM also actively works with campus administrators through shared governance, ensuring that the student voice is heard in Bascom Hall. On top of that, ASM completely oversees the the distribution of student segregated fees, allowing for student resources such as bus passes and student organization life.
