John began his career in taxation in 1987 as a seasonal employee with a franchise office of a national tax franchise. He became a franchisee of that same chain in 1991, eventually expanding to five franchises employing 50 individuals during tax season. After selling that company in 2003, John went to work for a large regional accounting firm where he divided his time between representing clients in sales & use tax controversies and examinations, and tax compliance work for non-resident aliens. In June of 2008, John commenced a full-time practice concentrating on the needs of foreign nationals living and working in the United States and U.S. Citizens living and working abroad. John passed the U.S. Treasury Department’s Special Enrollment Examination (“Enrolled Agent exam”) in 1995. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Oswego. John currently serves as 1st Vice President of the New York State Society of Enrolled Agents. John became a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute in 2012. Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine recently quoted John in the July 2013 issue. John was an industry panelist on the July 2013 episode of Tax Talk Today. John resides in Chester and practices out of offices in Goshen, New York.
