What started as a single home project years ago has since grown into a company that operates across the province. However, we still maintain the vision and values of our founder and current owner. Growing up around a construction background, with a father who worked as a residential and commercial contractor, Peter Batson quickly found the answer to every graduate’s biggest question: what do I do now? With a business degree from MUN, a love of construction work, and plenty of skills as a handyman, Peter enrolled in the Carpentry Program at the Carpenters Millwrights College. Soon after completing his program, he bought an older home on York Street to repair and renovate with the goal of reselling it. Thus, York Construction was born. Since that first project in October 2007, we’ve continued to grow and currently employ 25 people directly, as well as over 100 sub-traders indirectly. While the company remains locally owned and operated by Peter, we’ve also expanded beyond St. John’s and our operations cover both the Avalon Peninsula and Gander area. Some of our key projects include: • 25 lot subdivision in Gander • Westfield Condominium development • GlenDenning banquet hall • MUNN Insurance tenant fit-up • 9000 sq ft home in Paradise • 6000 sq ft custom-built home on Pringle Place • Allandale Place condo renovations In the future, our focus remains on both our clients and our employees, and we hope to continue to grow as we find ways to better serve you while building unique homes, increasing our commercial construction division, and creating long-term careers for our team.
