With a new curriculum to fight racism for high school and college youth, a cutting-edge program for diversity in the workplace, the thought-provoking and change-focused END RACISM BLOG (THE DOUBLE TRUTH), and of course screenings of our feature film PYRITE (including discussions on its story and how we can all take something positive away from it), Hollywood 27 passionately and unflinchingly stands at the forefront in the fight to end racism. When I started Hollywood 27 Productions, Inc. in the spring of 1998, I wanted to make sure that we always strived to do the right thing… to be more than just a film company. Whether that meant treating employees with respect and helping them reach their own dreams, or stepping outside of the ordinary scope of filmmaking to help those less fortunate. And perhaps most importantly, it has, from the start, meant trying to change the world in positive ways, particularly in the fight against racism. Hollywood 27 isn’t just about making movies; we’re about making a difference. Our mission statement is threefold… 1. Make excellent independent films that reach a new level in detail, stimulate thought while entertaining, and can reach into the hearts and minds of the world as we fight racism together. 2. Cultivate success in every person who helps with our work, helping those who help us to reach new heights. 3. Take time out to involve the community, whether it’s a location shoot on Chicago’s West Side, volunteering time at one of many noble community organizations needing assistance, or reaching into our pockets to contribute to those in need.
