Le Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM) se consacre aux mathématiques pures et appliquées dans tous les domaines de l’activité humaine, par exemple la physique théorique, l’imagerie cérébrale et moléculaire, l’informatique quantique, les statistiques et la génomique. En effet les mathématiques sont à la fois la première des sciences et la servante des sciences expérimentales, auxquelles elles apportent des concepts novateurs et fournissent un langage et des méthodes. Parmi les plus importants centres de recherche en mathématiques du monde, le CRM regroupe les forces vives en mathématiques des universités québécoises et d’autres universités canadiennes. Indeed, mathematics is both the first of the sciences and the handmaiden of the experimental sciences, to which it brings innovative concepts and provides language and methods.
