Dao Fei (道非) was born in 2017 out of a desire to catalogue and make sense of the changing dynamics in the Africa-China relationship. Dao Fei means “the pathway to Africa.” It can also translate as “the wrong road.” This double meaning encapsulates the complexity of understanding Africa and the continent’s relationship with China. However, in the effort of sharing some semblance of the Africa-China political-economic reality, Dao Fei embarks on this journey using intelligent journalism, accredited research, and self-generated in-depth analyses to relay an Afro-centric understanding of Chinese economic engagement and its implications for African civil societies.
