College of Engineering at Tennessee Technological University
www.tntech.eduThe College of Engineering at Tennessee Tech prepares engineers, computer scientists and engineering technologists for careers that shape the future and advance humankind. Our students master the mathematical, scientific, mechanical and professional knowledge needed in their disciplines, and gain experience in decision making through the analysis and solution of engineering problems. Our engineers also develop an awareness of the social, ecological, and economical concerns of society, and maintain high ethical standards of work. Senior-level classes concentrate on team design, construction, or operations while some are involved in research, development, and education. Many students take advantage of the Cooperative Education Program (Co-op) which allows students to integrate off-campus employment in industry or a governmental agency, providing them with valuable practical experience and extra income. Typically, a student will spend the first three semesters on campus and then rotate campus classes and off-campus work during the next several years. Our graduates are known for their ability to fuse complex analysis with hands-on skills: more than 150 employers recruit our students at our Engineering Career Fair, one the largest STEM-focused career fairs in the southeastern U.S. Graduates find employment in governmental agencies or with private firms. Most engineers ultimately function as managers or supervisors with some advancing to CEO. The college offers seven undergraduate degree programs in Chemical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as six graduate programs and a robust Ph.D. program. More than 2,500 undergraduates and 225 graduate students were enrolled in Fall 2020.
