Founded in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada in 2005, as a community economics project it soon grew into a product development group focused on connecting farmers and craft producers to consumers interested in supporting local agriculture and putting a face to the ingredients in their meals. Buddha Dog runs a restaurant where it showcases and tests new products. It's basic offering is a handmade hotdog that within six months of launch was named "Canada's Best Hotdog" and spawned fans across the country and around the world. The hotdogs take many forms (beef, pork, lamb, bacon, cheese, veggie etc.) and are dressed with over 200 unique condiments developed by the Buddha Foodha Kitchens and a network of Canada's top chefs. Accompanying the hotdogs are salads, soups, snacks, beverages and popular Buddha Dog branded souvenirs. Market research conducted though temporary locations in Toronto, Collingwood, and the Brickworks Market, Buddha Dog will be leveraged to develop a Buddha Dog retail product line.
