敖云 Ao Yun Vineyard
www.aoyun-wine.com敖云酒庄 Ao Yun Vineyards Ao Yun is the 1st Grand Cru of the Himalayas produced near the legendary city of Shangri-la. More than organic, it is crafted in a sustainable virtuous circle between plant and animal implemented centuries ago by the local farmers adapting them to this wild and remote area. This is an “haute couture” wine crafted 100% by hand taking care of each plant, grape and berry that are all singular in such complex, pure and diverse area. AN EPIC JOURNEY Ao Yun is the result of an epic journey born from a dream, a single vision to produce a unique and elegant world-class wine in China. This story began in 2008 with faith and determination, culminating in the creation of the world’s first Himalayan Grand Cru four years later – at over 2,200 above sea level. A MYSTICAL PLACE The villages are 2200-2600 metres above sea level, which lowers temperature, thereby also slowing ripening. Since Ao Yun’s steepness makes the use of tractors impossible, roots can grow deeper – up to 3m deep and deeper roots enable more complex wines. A TRANSCENDENT SPIRIT OF CRAFT Each of Ao Yun’s 900 sub-blocks spread across the 4 villages has its own variations, its own subtleties. Together they constitute approximately 30 separate terroir types. We invite those with adventure spirit to join this epic journey.
