We believe eating local food is the cornerstone of building a responsible and efficient food system. Foodshed.io is a marketing and distribution platform for farmers and is a one stop, app-based local food distributor for restaurants. Foodshed.io is a mobile app that functions as a marketing and distribution platform that aims to reduce inefficiencies in the food distribution system. Most small-scale producers get boxed out of the market due to high costs and a burdensome organizational overhead. We want to allow disparate farms to aggregate local produce listings so that restaurants and purveyors are incentivized to buy local food through a simplified platform while empowering farmers to make sales their way. We are interested in entering lower-end markets in an effort to connect fresh, local produce to consumers who typically go without access. We believe that eliminating the middleman and providing a simple platform to enhance sales has the potential to lower the cost of food, while increasing sales and farmer income.
