www.nicolesorce.com“Love the game, and the game will love you back,” someone in hockey told me a long time ago. He was right! After spending seven seasons in sales, marketing, and media roles with multiple teams in baseball and hockey, I am now focusing on photojournalism as a credentialed member of the media in the American Hockey League and ECHL. I am also working with Higher Hockey Management in Client Acquisitions & Services for North American athletes. During my time as a Sport Management student at Ithaca College, I managed the Men’s Ice Hockey Team and realized my ultimate career goal of having hockey be a part of my daily life. I just completed my master’s degree in New Media Journalism through Full Sail University as Valedictorian of my program and will be covering AHL and ECHL action during the 2017-18 season for www.nicolesorce.com and on social media (@nicolesorce). With a career goal of working in hockey’s media world, I am looking forward to building off my prior journalism successes, which included access to C.C. Sabathia’s charity event in New York City, a private tour of the MLB Network Studios with Heidi Watney, covering Curtis Granderson’s rehabilitation appearance in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and landing an exclusive interview with New York Yankees legends Mariano Rivera and Bernie Williams in 2014! I also had the privilege and honor of covering the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs in its entirety, including the moment the championship was secured in Grand Rapids and the Calder Cup trophy presentation that followed. Back in the day, I ranked as one of the Top 40 Sales Representatives in the AHL during my time as the Youth Hockey and Group Sales Manager for the Portland Pirates during the 2014-15 season and finished as one of the league’s Top 10 Female Sellers that year as well. I hope to continue to produce helpful articles on ticket sales, sexual harassment, and other common workplace issues in the sports industry to empower current employees to stand up for their rights and demand change along with me. I also hope to make a positive impact on fan development of hockey and influence fans to make regular visits to their arenas to increase ticket sales and keep their hometown teams financially secure in their cities.
