Since our inception in 1992, Acton Ostry Architects (AOA) has demonstrated a continuing commitment to the making of architecture that responds thoughtfully to local topography, climate, culture and to lessons learned from buildings inherited from the past. Russell Acton and Mark Ostry, the founding Principals, lead the firm with two principal associates, three associates and thirty-three architectural staff, five of whom are LEED accredited professionals. The values of our practice embody a consideration to sustainable design that is without wilful extravagance. Our design approach incorporates new technologies and materials that contribute to the realization of projects rooted in a considered, modernist idiom that offer sustenance to those that inhabit and experience them. We are dedicated to the practice of architecture that positively and effectively contributes to the values and aspirations of the clients and communities we serve. We are experienced in a wide range of building types, both new construction and adaptive reuse. Our projects are grounded in extensive research into the historical, social and cultural context of their surroundings.
