The Michelson Neglected Disease Vaccine Initiative is a powerhouse in supporting vaccine R&D against parasitic worms that afflict more than one billion of the world’s poorest, is an innovative model that relies on private, academic, & public institutions to collaborate for preclinical development, vaccine manufacturing & clinical testing. In 2014, the Michelsons gifted 50 million dollars to the University of Southern California to fund the creation of the USC Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience, a research stronghold aimed at “research for humanity’s sake” so that work conducted at the venue will be “goal oriented” in order to produce “real world breakthroughs in real time.” The groundbreaking took place on October 26, 2014 & USC Michelson opened its doors on November 1st, 2017. Through his other non-profit foundations, such as the 20 Million Minds Foundation [20MMF] (digital textbooks, educational policy changes), the Found Animals Foundation [FAF] (dedicated to preventing the annual euthanasia of millions of pets in the U.S.), the Michelson Prize & Grants (fueling research into a single-dose, nonsurgical sterilant for cats & dogs) & Adopt & Shop (a breakthrough one-stop pet adoption & shopping experience), Dr. Gary K.
