Orsoni Venezia 1888 is the last historical furnace in Venice that produces 24K gold leaf mosaics, colored gold and smalti veneziani for art, architecture and design using the same artisanal mastery since 1888. Combining craftsmanship, cultural heritage and innovation, the Company seeks to convey emotions through its uniqueness and attention to detail, all firmly rooted in its passion for excellence. The ‘Color Library’ is the soul of the furnace: a timeless place that preserves more than 3,500 smalti of different tones and shades. The magical place where Angelo Orsoni’s famous multicolored panel was born. Displayed for the first time at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889, years later this piece of art inspired world-famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí to use Orsoni Venezia 1888 mosaics for the construction of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. Since its beginning the company has manufactured mosaics for the renovation of Venice's St. Mark’s Basilica and is still to this day the only furnace that can produce the “Oro San Marco” for the restoration. Orsoni Venezia 1888 is also boasts several iconic buildings and projects worldwide such as: Trocadero and Le Sacre-Coeur in Paris, Saint Paul Cathedral in London, Rudolf Nureyev’s Tomb and many other mosaic masterpieces of Arabic and Oriental architecture. In 2003 Orsoni was incorporated into TREND Group, Italian multinational company that specializes in the manufacturing of glass mosaics and engineered stone surfaces for interior and exterior decoration.
