So, what can we say about BangPop! that you wouldn't know already... BangPop! is bringing events from the pop culture fringe to the Bangor area. Starting with the original BangPop! Pop Culture & Comic Convention, it has branched onward and outward to embrace other niches of cool. Executive Director Gibran Graham and Creative Director Monique Bouchard have been bringing such events to the Bangor area since 2008. BangPop!'s signature event, Gibran's brainchild, the BangPop! Pop Culture & Comic Con, is a September annual which brought out over 400 people to its first one-day con in 2008. The event has since increased to two days,and includes films, speakers and prominent contributors to the world of comics & more. SnowCon, central and northern Maine's gaming con, is held in January, inspired by Monique's love of gaming. It's first go even motivated the weather - a very stormy January weekend over 200 people attended the two-day event (and some didn't want to leave!) The 2010 event brought in gamers and vendors from as far as New York and Los Angeles. The annual West Market Festival was bequeathed to BangPop! when its original creator left the area. The day-long free music, art and fashion festival is a fun and exciting way to encourage people to come to downtown Bangor, and have a great time enjoying the scene. BangPop! is always thinking up more crazy schemes, so if there's something you've always wanted to do but "just doesn't happen around here" let us know!
