The Coalition for Aligning Science (CAS) is an advisory firm that focuses on strategy and implementation at the intersection of biomedical research, science policy, and social impact. We believe well-informed capital can fuel breakthroughs and catalyze impact. Current projects include: Aligning Science Across Parkinson's (ASAP): We are the managing entity for ASAP, a coordinated research initiative to advance targeted basic research for Parkinson’s disease. Sewer Coronavirus Alert Network (SCAN): SCAN monitors wastewater from 10 California cities to help those communities slow the spread of COVID-19. We serve as the project lead for this collaboration among scientists from Stanford University, the University of Michigan, and Emory University; the life sciences research company Verily; and the communities. What we do: - Identify key knowledge gaps and effective solutions - Design and implement research programs - Evaluate funding opportunities and guide strategic use of private capital - Provide expert counsel on science policy issues
