Pratt Energy LLC

Pratt Energy, LLC operates a fuel ethanol manufacturing facility in Pratt, KS, about seventy miles west of Wichita. The plant was originally built by Lurgi, Inc but has since been modified to perform like its sister plant in Pixley, CA, owned and operated by Calgren Renewable Fuels. Both plants incorporate an industry-leading energy-efficient design by Thermal Kinetics Inc. We know of no other grain-based ethanol plant with an inherently lower carbon footprint. Ethanol production at the Pratt facility was originally commenced in October 2007. But various difficulties forced the plant to shut down soon after, in February 2008. Following the modifications mentioned above, the ethanol plant was reopened in September 2013 and has since been operating continuously ever since. Fuel ethanol is consumed throughout the U.S. and in numerous foreign lands. Our plant is alongside the main Union Pacific rail line and is well-served by a double-loop track capable of handling shuttle trains, providing us important transportation options. Yet our principal focus is on the surrounding area. Most of our ethanol is delivered to nearby fuel terminals by local trucking firms. Similarly, our distiller’s grains are sold to local feedlots. And the feedstock for our plant is corn and milo produced by local farmers. We are delighted to be a part of the Pratt, KS community and proud of our role in bringing additional industry and commerce to Pratt and to its neighbors.
