In the distant future, historians concluded that 2050 was the year which saw humanity escape the shackles of its lower instincts and achieve the elusive 'technological singularity', a breakthrough in advancement where all things became possible. With the creation of infinite energy, all famine was eradicated and all wars became obsolete. Automation fulfilled humanity's daily needs, while technology filled its lives with limitless leisure potential. Humanity and technology became one, fusing into an entirely new species, which came to be called, 'Homoluminous', or 'beings of light'.
