Marine Safety Consultants, Inc., was founded in 1980 by David C. DuBois, a former Coast Guard officer, who recognized the need to service the local fishing fleet with safety consulting; and provide a steady regional presence to respond to insurance claims arising from oil pollution incidents, hull and machinery casualties, and crew injuries. David passed away unexpectedly in 2017, but his vision remains our primary focus today: providing prompt and professional service to the commercial interests of the working waterfront; and enhancing safe working conditions with training of those who make their livelihood on the water. Longtime senior surveyor, business partner and general manager, Michael L. Collyer, was elected company president following David’s passing, and leads one of the most experienced management teams in any maritime claims consultancy. With sixteen career maritime professionals working from three offices, Marine Safety Consultants, Inc. is well positioned to remain the preeminent source of marine surveying and maritime consulting as we approach our fortieth year in business.
