88 Blessings
www.88blessings.orgThe 88 Blessings Foundation was founded by Erica Wilson and her son, Miami Dolphins star Allen Hurns. The Foundation’s mission is to offer resources and a support system to single parents and students in need. Their goals are to build and develop a community that empowers single parents to re-focus their energy to grow economic stability, provide emotional support, and mentor students to take the next important steps with their education. 88 Blessings’ mission resonates with the story of Erica and Allen’s own background, and they now want to send the message to single working parents and students that they have others to lean on for help, both financially and emotionally. The S.O.A.R. Movement was created as an idea in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The S.O.A.R. acronym stands for High School Seniors will Overcome adversity by Arising from hardships and becoming Resilient. For many graduating high school seniors, what would have been a celebratory moment, reaching the milestone of graduating high school, quickly changed. Seniors were not able to walk at their graduation ceremonies and enjoy the transition into college. The program was created to aid and fill a void in many graduating seniors’ lives because of this. Circumstances can and will change. All that’s needed is a helping hand.
