International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 494 was formed in June of 1906 and permanently chartered on May 11, 1911. IBEW Local 494 is a labor union representing approximately 2300 members. It represents workers in construction, manufacturing, municipal, and maintenance. Since its formation, it has been promoting better wages, working conditions, and safety for its members and everyone working in the electrical industry. Local 494 conducts apprenticeship programs for electricians and sound and communication technicians. It also offers continuing education classes for its members.
