The Engineering: Volunteering and Outreach Society (EVO) is a social responsibility orientated society at the University of Manchester. We run our own engineering-based outreach and volunteering projects in order to ‘engineer a difference’ in our local community. Our outreach branch aims to inspire an interest in engineering in young people. We co-ordinate student-led teams to design and deliver engineering activities and demonstrations in local schools and at STEM events. Our volunteering branch aims to connect students with the wider community to address engineering challenges, putting their degree knowledge into practice. We approach companies and community organisations, assigning student teams to help with any engineering challenges they may have.
