Musée dethnographie de Genève - MEG

www.meg-geneve.ch

The MEG is a deeply human museum. It is a place for sharing and discovering the cultures of the world, looking at the challenges of today's society from various angles. The MEG stands out for the quality of its exhibitions and its collections made up of objects from five continents and touching more than 1,500 cultures. The MEG is a place where everything is possible, a place that sparkles curiosity and fosters encounters. Shows, concerts, lectures, talks, panel discussions, film screenings, workshops and guided tours are just a sample of the experiences offered to the public in connection with the exhibitions. Since November 2014, the MEG's wealth of treasures is showcased in a new building designed by the Zurich office of Graber & Pulver Architekten on the site the museum has occupied since 1941. Since its reopening, the MEG has been a great success with more than 1 million visits to its exhibitions and public activities. Not only does the architecture of the building leave no one indifferent, but the diversity of its exhibitions and the richness of its programming never ceases to appeal to the public. In recognition of its significant influence in the museum field at the national and international level, the MEG won the prestigious European Museum of the Year (EMYA) Award in 2017. Today, faced with an increasingly demanding society, the MEG has questioned its museum policy and development strategy. Aware of the global societal and environmental changes, the MEG has initiated a profound transformation with objectives aimed at decolonizing the museum, strengthening local and international partnerships, including new audiences, inspiring creation and becoming a museum of reference for sustainable development. the MEG is proud to be part of a proactive process of decolonizing its practices and the history of its collections.
