Love in Motion is a local, Puerto Rican non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3). Our mission is to catalyze opportunities and resources through capacity building, stewardship and innovation for the development of sustainable and sovereign communities. It was founded in 2017 by the Local Guest (ecotourism tour operator) Team and born in the aftermath of Hurricane María to support communities that were developing their own tourism experiences. We provided relief through brigades by making available warm food, basic goods and supplies, clean water, and cleaning crews to hard-hit communities. Five days after hurricane Maria we were working together to regroup and visit the communities we have been working with for over a year with our sustainable tourism development company, Local Guest. Love in Motion has evolved to a non-profit centered around sustainable development by co-creating capacity building programs with collaborators like the US Forest Service in order to train communities to be better prepared to receive visitors in their space in a sustainable manner. This enables them to be active participants in the tourism ecosystem, thus, creating new economic development.
