The Institute for the Study of International Development (ISID) is a research and teaching institute at McGill University which focuses upon the issues of social and economic development. Development research and teaching has never been as strong at McGill as it is today, and this is reflected in the creation and growth of the Institute for the Study of International Development, ISID. ISID generates impressive levels of original research and trains future generations of researchers, teachers, policymakers and development practitioners. The Institute is also responsible for one of the largest undergraduate teaching programs in the Faculty of Arts, the International Development Studies Program. Research at the ISID is intended to contribute directly to understanding the foundations of democratic governance.
