As the Deputy Director of Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for the Office of the Attorney General in Maryland Mr. Bardos became intimately familiar with all aspects of allegations of Medicaid Fraud, including teaching several training sessions on Medicaid and Health Care Fraud. He now brings all of this experience as private counsel in criminal cases involving Medicaid Fraud and all types of federal criminal cases. His experience in Medicaid Fraud issues recently led to a dismissal of all charges in a case brought by his former Unit. An understanding of the details and inner workings of the Medicaid billing process is critical to defending what are often spurious accusations. In addition, prior to prosecuting Medicaid Fraud, Mr. Bardos worked as a prosecutor for the Health Occupation Boards of Maryland, gaining experience and knowledge of the functioning and processes of the Boards in Maryland. As a result, the also represents health care providers of all types in Board matters, including addressing issues before charges are brought and in negotiating, where possible, dismissal of all charges. As a former Board prosecutor, Mr. Bardos has valuable insights into the workings of the Board processes. Mr. Bardos was responsible for obtaining the first felony neglect conviction in the State as well as the first manslaughter conviction ever obtained by the Office of the Attorney General. His jury trial experience includes several Medicaid Fraud felony cases tried to conviction. Mr. Bardos’ federal court experience includes 5 years as an Assistant Federal Public Defender followed by 18 years of federal practice and numerous federal jury trials.
