Papillon Behavioral Health was founded in 2018. It is located in beautiful Johnson City, Tennessee. The word Papillon (pronounced pa-pee-yawn) is French for butterfly. A butterfly signifies longevity, endurance, creativity, joy, romance and spirituality. It represents a transformation, a rebirth, or a new way of thinking and being. In addition to these meanings, the word Papillon has a special meaning to the Papillon Behavioral Health family. It is a tribute to Peter Porta or “Uncle Pete,” a great man who knew the value of family, love, and close relationship. He lived life filled with love, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, and joy. These are characteristics that will remain core values at Papillon Behavioral Health in honor of Uncle Pete.
