The company's name of LOTTE comes from the nickname of Lotte for Charlotte, the heroine in the novel "The Sorrows of Young Werther" written by the great German literature figure Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and this name was used to represent the desire for the company to be loved by everyone. Today LOTTE has grown into a general sweets producer familiar as "The Sweetheart of Your Mouth" or "Your Palate's Sweetheart" through the wide variety of products we offer including chewing gum, chocolate and cookies. Lotte (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is owned by Lotte Japan and Lotte Korea. Lotte is a confectionery company. In addition, the diversification and internatiolization of the Company's businesses have led to diversification into a wide range of fields in Japan represented by Lotteria (fast food chain), Chiba Lotte Mariners (baseball team) and Hokaron brand names. LOTTE has also expanded overseas with factories and offices in USA, Russia, Korea, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, India and Malaysia.
