Modern Health Talk is an online community Website, Blog, and Social Network for sharing information about independent living and aging-in-place. My purpose with this labor of love is to connect people with the assistive technologies and services that enable home healthcare, with the aim of avoiding the need for institutional care, improving quality-of-life, and lowering overall health care costs. I also cover health reform issues important to seniors and their families and write about The Future of Healthcare in America. As our aging population booms, I believe we must create personal, networked, home-based care options and move at least 50% of healthcare services from institutions to private homes. Doing so could save as much as $1 trillion per year. But as the enabling technologies and care options evolve, how will individuals learn about what’s available? This will depend largely on a community of individuals sharing experiences with the new technologies and services.
