The staggering statistics of how much food is sent to the landfills is shocking, 33 billion pounds of protein food a year. All the while there are still hunger, starvation, and malnutrition issues all around our communities. With a refrigerated van we pick-up cooked prepared foods, milk, yogurts, and cheese from restaurants, grocery stores, Costcos .... as expiration dates are approaching. We take these foods back to our professional kitchen and with our paid and volunteer cooking staff, these foods are made into fabulous casseroles and various other dishes. In the morning, everything is reloaded into the refrigerated trucks and distributed to food kitchens and schools.
