We expressly forbid the harvesting of endangered species and are strictly compliant with international law including the Lacey Act, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (CITES), and guidelines from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). We created African Slabs based on over 40 years of collective on-the-ground experience witnessing African forests being exploited and deforested. International standards are the bare minimum - truly sustainable timber is produced through strictly localized conservation efforts. Timber suppliers providing our hardwoods have been visited by us personally and vetted for sustainability, localized conservation methods, and community engagement. All AFRICAN SLABS hardwoods are sourced and processed in the country of origin, ensuring a lower carbon footprint and higher revenue for local communities through a direct-to-buyer supply chain.
